Jaime Baca is a partner at Wicker Smith O’Hara McCoy & Ford, P.A.’s Miami office. He focuses his practice on automobile negligence, products liability, wrongful death, premises liability, transportation/trucking, medical fraud and abuse, first party property and general civil litigation. Mr. Baca joined the firm in 2015 and has extensive experience in handling all types of bodily injury cases. He frequently deals with spinal surgeries and high medical bills (LOPs) cases. He also handles transportation cases involving catastrophic accidents and with liability disputes and high damages. As part of his litigation practice he also has cases for retail companies involving slip and falls, batteries, false arrests and all types of general liability issues. Finally, he has experience in handling property cases and has also successfully handled insurance agent Errors and Omissions claims. He has tried over 150 injury cases in the State of Florida for individuals, insurance companies, and business clients.
Before joining the firm he obtained his General Lines Insurance Agent license at age 18 and worked in the business of insurance. He worked as a commercial and personal lines insurance broker, an underwriter, a claims adjuster, and an insurance law instructor. He was a senior partner at a prior firm where he handled similar type cases for over 15 years and managed a team of trial lawyers.
Mr. Baca graduated from St. Thomas School of Law where he graduated Cum Laude in 1997. Mr. Baca’s undergraduate studies were completed at Florida International University, where he obtained his B.A. in Business Administration in 1992 and a Masters of Science in Finance in 1994. At the same time, he obtained the Chartered Property and Casualty designation (CPCU) which is a highly recognized professional designation in insurance and risk management in 1993. He has served as an officer for the South Florida Chapter of the CPCU Society, a non-profit insurance organization.
His professional and community involvement include volunteering his time to lecture in the area of trial advocacy and helping with local law schools prepare for mock trial competitions. In addition to handling cases for his clients, Mr. Baca also regularly lectures on a variety of continuing education topics including ethics, rapid response, use of experts and successfully defending cases involving Letters of Protection for national organizations such as CLM. He is also a member of ABOTA which recognizes outstanding trial lawyers in all 50 states and has an AV Preeminent rating.
