Dr. Jan Tibor Lelley LL.M. is a partner with BUSE, and he is a member of the firm's Employment Practice Group. Jan works exclusively on labor and employment law cases. He went to law school and studied philosophy at the University of Bielefeld, where he also earned his PhD. He holds a LL.M. in International Business Law from Suffolk University Law School and is admitted to the Bar as a certified specialist for labor and employment law (Fachanwalt für Arbeitsrecht). Jan is trained by the Harvard Kennedy School of Government's Leadership Decision-Making Program. He is appointed as Foreign Legal Consultant by the State Bar of California. With more than 20 years of professional experience, he advises employers and HR executives on the full range of HR-related legal issues and key areas such as the design of employment agreements, co-determination at the work-place, union and works council controlling, HR-focused corporate restructuring, data privacy at the work-place. Jan speaks regularly on best practice issues of human resources, has authored numerous articles in legal journals and the business press and teaches industrial relations as a visiting lecturer at the Ruhr University Bochum faculty of law. He represents national and international clients from a broad variety of industries. Among them are many market leaders in the field of financial services, information technology, hospitality and life science. Besides his out-of-court practice, another important area is his in-court representation, including litigation in front of the Federal Labor Court and the European Court of Justice. Clients regularly trust Jan with their most challenging, complex and high-risk matters and negotiations with works councils, unions and representation in the courts. Jan is recommended by the legal press as one of the eminent European management side employment advisors and Who's Who Legal has voted him since 2016 as one of the world's Leading Labour, Employment & Benefits Lawyers.
