"Joe Broussard, a member of one of the founding families of Jefferson County, Texas, joined MehaffyWeber in 1988 and became a shareholder in 1994. His experience includes work with wills, trusts, estate tax, gift tax and generation skipping tax planning, numerous closely-held and family owned businesses, residential and commercial real estate developments, convenience stores, petroleum fuel jobbers, real estate transactions involving both surface and mineral interests, and oil and gas transactions. Upon receiving his J.D. from Baylor University School of Law, Mr. Broussard began his practice under the tutelage of the renowned business attorney John L. Bell, Jr. Over his career he has proven to be invaluable to clients and has been recognized for his success by national organizations such as Super Lawyers by Thomson Reuters (2005-2010, 2013-2022) and Best Lawyers® (2010-2023). Mr. Broussard is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His professional activities include his appointment to the Pattern Jury Charge – Family Law and Probate Committee for the State Bar of Texas from 2011 to 2017. He is also active in many community and charitable organizations as well as local businesses. Mr. Broussard currently serves as legal counsel and an executive board member for Three Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Southeast Texas Emergency Relief Fund, a non-profit organization designated as the Long Term Recovery Group by the Commissioners of Jefferson County to assist in local disaster recovery efforts.
