Kurt M. Spengler is a shareholder in Wicker Smith’s Orlando office. He joined the firm in 1994, and has been a key driver of the firm’s growth in Central Florida for more than 30 years. Kurt is a talented and experienced trial lawyer. Board-certified in Civil Trial Law by both the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education and the National Board of Trial Advocacy in Civil Trial Law, Kurt has tried nearly 100 civil jury trials throughout his career. He has represented some of the firm’s biggest clients in court, in matters including medical malpractice, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, negligent security, general and premises liability, and trucking and automobile negligence. He is well-versed in defending traumatic brain injury claims in a variety of areas, and is designated as a major case unit attorney assigned to handle TBI claims for several major national insurers. In the past 10 years, trucking and auto negligence have come to comprise nearly half of Kurt’s practice. He serves as the Chair of Wicker Smith’s Transportation Practice Group and as a member of the firm’s Transportation Rapid Response Team. Kurt is a trusted advisor to his trucking and transportation clients, and regularly speaks at industry conferences sponsored by professional organizations such as TIDA, TLA, and ATA, among others. Kurt has earned a number of professional distinctions from peers and clients alike. He holds an AV® Preeminent™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and has been featured in the Orlando Business Journal and Florida Trend magazine many times. He has been listed in Florida Super Lawyers every year since 2008, and in Best Lawyers in America since 2016. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the 7th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Kurt is a graduate of The University of Florida and The University of Florida Law School. When he is not working, he can be found cycling, training for his next marathon, and cheering on the Gators with his family.
