Patrick J. Sweeney's practice involves the defense of product liability, transportation, construction, and complex personal injury claims. He has represented a diverse range of clients, including product manufacturers, regional and national transportation companies, national rental car companies, regional fleet operators, international hotel brands and asbestos manufacturers. Pat attended law school at night while working in the claims department for the nation’s largest automobile insurer, handling bodily injury, uninsured and underinsured motorist claims. Pat serves on the Firm’s Executive Committee.
In addition to his litigation activities, Pat is active in both professional and bar-related activities. Pat is the Immediate Past President of DRI – Lawyers Representing Business. DRI is the largest international membership organization of attorneys defending the interests of business and individuals in civil litigation. Prior to becoming President, Pat served as Chair of DRI’s Product Liability Committee and as a member of DRI’s Board of Directors. Pat also served on DRI’s Law Institute, which is responsible for implementing educational programming for the organization. In addition to his work with DRI, Pat is the former President of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, an organization of civil defense attorneys, executives of insurance companies and self-insured corporations. Pat is also an active member in the Transportation Lawyers Association.
Pat served on the Alumni Board of Directors for his alma mater, The University of Scranton. He is an avid runner who has completed multiple marathons. He enjoys spending time with his family and rooting for all of the Philadelphia professional sport teams.
