Paul P. Morf

Paul Morf joined Simmons Perrine in 1998 after clerking on the US Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. He has chaired the firm's estate planning and private wealth practice group since 2005 and has taught various courses related to estate planning and wealth transfer taxation at the University of Iowa College of Law. Mr. Morf is co-founder of the Iowa Academy of Trust and Estate Counsel (IATEC) and serves as its President. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a thought leader with respect to trust and estate law in Iowa. In 2020, Mr. Morf worked to secure unanimous approval in both houses of the Iowa legislature for trust-modernization legislation authorizing decanting, trust protectors and an open architecture of unbundled fiduciary services for Iowa trusts, and silent trusts for young beneficiaries. He also worked through the IATEC to secure executive orders allowing remote notarization and remote witnessing of estate planning documents during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mr. Morf is a graduate of the Yale Law School and Dartmouth College. He has served on a myriad of non-profit boards over the years, and is currently a board member for the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation (IHNF), the Iowa Legal Aid Foundation, the Kirkwood College Foundation, and United Way of East Central Iowa.
